New Belgium Lips of Faith Series Tart Lychee 22oz bottle, 7.5% ABV. Limited Release. Appearance: Hazy pale golden, thin white head, small amount of lacing. Aroma: small amount of funk, noticeable bready yeast, white flowers and apricots, and (of course) Lychee. Taste: Sour at first, light fruit with a subtle bitterness approaching the finish. Light snappy yeast character. Barely noticeable tannins from the Oak. Finish: dry with a slight snap. The sour characteristics linger, as does the Lychee flavor. Pleasant bready notes throughout. Beer tastings: Suds lovers unite! We’ve got two terrific tastings in October. The first is Octoberfest/Marzens on October 5th at 8pm. We will be tasting both traditional and new-world variations of the Marzen style as well as some Amber ales. The second will feature hard Ciders on October 26th, also at 8pm. This is one tasting I’m especially fired up for as I’m a big-time cider advocate- they’re perfect in the fall as the weather cools and our meals grow warm and hearty! South Lyndale Suds Lovers will be having our first meeting on Wednesday, June 15th at 8 p.m. The meetings will be very informal to start as I don’t have any speakers lined up and just want to give people a reason to come by the store and drink good beer and eat cheese.
