Crystal Head is an award winning, Canadian vodka, completely free of any additives. This naturally pure vodka had to be born of an equally pristine primary ingredient which is why we use the deep glacial aquifer water of Newfoundland, Canada. Crystal Head Vodka is quadruple distilled, triple filtered and then triple filtered again through Herkimer diamonds, making this as ‘PURE’ as vodka can be. Great vodka, great bottle. Here’s an amazing recipe Need a bottle or two delivered? Check out the review over at theVodkaDoll

New Belgium Lips of Faith Series Tart Lychee 22oz bottle, 7.5% ABV. Limited Release. Appearance: Hazy pale golden, thin white head, small amount of lacing. Aroma: small amount of funk, noticeable bready yeast, white flowers and apricots, and (of course) Lychee. Taste: Sour at first, light fruit with a subtle bitterness approaching the finish. Light snappy yeast character. Barely noticeable tannins from the Oak. Finish: dry with a slight snap. The sour characteristics linger, as does the Lychee flavor. Pleasant bready notes throughout. Overall: The sourness is muted and may disappoint those looking for the really funky stuff. That being said, this beer is wonderfully drinkable and, if it weren’t for the 7.5% ABV, feels session-able. Speaking of ABV, that 7.5% is utterly hidden, no heat or vapors. The esters are well presented and exist in a grey area of exotic stone-fruit. Balanced and easy to quaff, I will be drinking this in the summer heat.

Wine Geeks: Michael DeLoach, President, Hook & Ladder Winery Wednesday, May 9th, 8-10pm, South Lyndale Liquors We’ll be slurping our way through the seriously tasty wines of Sonoma County’s Hook & Ladder with winery president Michael DeLoach. If you recognize the DeLoach name, that’s because Michael’s family founded DeLoach and established their reputation for classically-styled wines that emphasize balance and finesse over flash. After selling the DeLoach label, the family established Hook & Ladder, aiming to continue their stellar record of grape growing and winemaking. Hook & Ladder has become one of our favorite wineries- expressing the best of California fruit within an elegant, food-friendly framework. They are the rare winery that excels across their entire lineup, from cool, fresh whites to reds ranging from Pinot Noir to Zinfandel. Hook & Ladder’s responsible, sustainable farming practices further demonstrate their commitment to the Russian River Valley, and their intension to be a part of that great wine growing area for the long term. This will be a terrific tasting, but is unfortunately limited to 25 people. Cost is just $15, call 612-827-5811 now to register.

The Corpse Reviver #2 is purported to raise the dead (or at least console the hungover). Make sure the lime juice is fresh, the acidity really keeps everything in check: Corpse Reviver #2 PROCEDURES Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker; fill with ice and shake well.
